With my initial entry I want to say hello to all and wish all of you a very sincere peace and contentment in your lives. And, as I have nothing specific to write about tonight, I think I'll just ramble.
Animals...beautiful creatures all...I have loved animals since childhood. This love for animals as well as health concerns are the primary reasons why I turned to vegitarianism. I do feel that spiritual progress does demand at some stage that we should cease to kill our fellow creatures for the satisfaction of our bodily wants.
I hold flesh-food to be unsuited to our species. We err in copying the lower world if we are superior to it.
Flesh-eating (please remember, this is only my opinion) is simply immoral...as it involves the performance of an act which is contrary to moral feeling-killing. Mankind suppresses in himself, unnecessarily, the highest spiritual capacity-that of sympathy and pity towards living creatures like himself-and by violating his own feelings becomes cruel.
While our bodies are the living graves of murdered animals, how can we expect any ideal conditions on earth?
Truly, man is the King of Beasts, for his brutality exceeds theirs. We live by the death of others. We are burial places! The time will come when men will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men. He who does not value life cannot advance the same.
